Information for Veterans

Mesothelioma disproportionately affects veterans. In fact, it is estimated that veterans make up one third of all mesothelioma patients. Given this statistic and the particular needs of veterans, please make sure to read through this section and call us if you have any questions.

VA COORDINATOR AT YOUR HOSPITAL

As a mesothelioma patient, the first thing you should know is that your hospital, and all other hospitals where you will receive treatment, employ a VA coordinator. Make sure you ask to meet with this person whose job it is to help you fill out forms and advise you on benefits provided through the VA system.

SPEEDING UP CLAIMS

One of the most criticized aspects of VA care is the slowness with which claims are processed due to the claim backlog. The Veterans Administration is taking steps in resolving this issue as reported here.
