The Meso Foundation Board of Directors: Erica Iacono

Meet Erica Iacono, Director

Erica Iacono is a native New Yorker, having grown up in Brooklyn and Long Island and now residing in Manhattan. A former journalist, she now manages content strategy for a global public relations firm, working with Fortune 500 companies in the retail, financial, and healthcare sectors. She became involved with the Meso Foundation soon after its inception in 2000, following the death of her father, Anthony, from pleural mesothelioma at age 51 and only two months after diagnosis and five years of misdiagnosis. After losing her dad, she made it her mission to raise awareness of mesothelioma and the work that the Meso Foundation is doing. As a New Yorker, she is concerned with the impact the 9/11 tragedy in New York might have on the future health of first responders and is hoping to have that story better told by the media.

As a board member, Erica is focused on helping with marketing and public relations efforts, using the skills she gained as a journalist and in her current work, as well as some of her industry contacts, to help the Foundation achieve its mission. In her spare time, she enjoys performing in local community theatre and is a proud member of the Meso Fighters band!
