Is my donation transaction safe and secure?
Yes. The Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation processes all credit card gifts through Kintera, a provider of website services to non-profits (Kintera has recently merged with Blackbaud). Kintera uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to encrypt all data submitted to and from our site over the Web. SSL renders donors’ personal information, including credit card numbers, virtually unreadable to anyone who intercepts it. In addition to utilizing SSL encryption for all transactions, Kintera stores encrypted credit card numbers and passwords, as well as other donor information, on servers that are kept in a physically secure environment with strict policies that minimize staff access to the information contained therein. The Card Security Code is only used for credit card processing and is not stored on Kintera’s servers.

Are donor names kept confidential?
Neither the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation nor Kintera ever sell, trade, or rent donor information, and the Kintera site has security measures to prevent the loss, misuse, or alteration of donor and donation data. Additionally, donors have the option to give anonymously. See our Privacy Policy.

Do donors receive receipts when they make a donation via the Donate Now button?
When a donor makes a contribution and the credit card is verified, a tax receipt is automatically emailed to the donor acknowledging the contribution for tax purposes. This email also thanks the donor for their contribution and includes a thank you message. In addition, the Meso Foundation physically mails a thank you letter, which also serves as a tax receipt, to each donor.

When gifts are made on our Tribute Wall, we automatically send acknowledgements of the gift to the family member/s who requested to be notified when creating the tribute page. When utilizing the Tribute Wall, the donor has the option of choosing to have or not have their name appear publicly on the tribute page. Donation amounts are never listed publicly on the Tribute Wall.
