Sheet Metal Occupational Health Institute Trust

The Sheet Metal Occupational Health Institute Trust (SMOHIT) was founded in 1986 to address the impact of decades-long asbestos exposure on those working in the sheet metal industry. While screenings and research on asbestos and other hazardous materials continue to be the cornerstone of SMOHIT’s efforts, their expanding mission now includes being the sheet metal industry’s leading resource for health and safety products and services. SMOHIT's mission is to provide industry-leading health and safety solutions to minimize occupational illnesses and injuries for sheet metal craftsmen.

SMOHIT serves more than 216,000 members of the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers (SMART) and 4,500 members of the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA).

Deadliest Cancers Coalition

The Deadliest Cancers Coalition is a collaboration of national non-profit organizations focused on addressing policy issues related to our nation’s most lethal, or recalcitrant, cancers, defined as those that have five-year relative survival rates below 50 percent. It was established in 2008 by the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and other patient advocacy organizations and professional societies.

National Organization for Rare Disorders

International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer

The International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) is the only global organization dedicated to the study of lung cancer. Founded in 1974, the association's membership includes more than 4,000 lung cancer specialists in over 90 countries. IASLC members work to enhance the understanding of lung cancer among scientists, members of the medical community and the public. IASLC publishes theJournal of Thoracic Oncology, a valuable resource for medical specialists and scientists who focus on the detection, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer.

International Thoracic Oncology Nursing Forum

The International Thoracic Oncology Nursing Forum (ITONF) is an international organisation for those who are directly caring for people with lung cancer or mesothelioma in a nursing role. The ITONF is a group of avid nurses with a common focus of improving patient care, health care delivery and outcomes for patients, their families and carers. This network provides an opportunity for debate, education and knowledge transfer throughout the continuum of treatment. This setting also allows Nurses who have extensive experience to mentor those nurses who are new to the arena.

National Cancer Institute and National Institutes of Health

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) is the federal government's principal agency for cancer research and training. The NCI is part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), which is one of 11 agencies that comprise the Department of Health and Human Services. The NCI coordinates the National Cancer Program, which conducts and supports research, training, health information dissemination, and other programs with respect to the cause, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of cancer, rehabilitation from cancer, and the continuing care of cancer patients and the families of cancer patients.

National Patient Advocate Foundation

The National Patient Advocate Foundation represents the patient's voice nationwide, particularly those struggling with a chronic, debilitating or life-threatening illness. They support sensible reforms that will expand access to health care for patients and protect them from the often unjust and discriminatory effects of illness.
