Poster Session Call for Abstracts

The Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation and the National Cancer Institute are inviting the submission of scientific abstracts for the poster session to be displayed at the International Symposium on Malignant Mesothelioma between March 27-28, and presented on March 28th between 5:30 and 7 PM. Travel grants of $500 will be awarded to the top three abstracts. Authors are asked to submit abstracts under one of the following categories:

•Diagnostic Modalities (Pathology and Biomarkers and Imaging)
•Systemic Therapy
•Radiation Therapy
•Immunotherapy and Targeted Therapy
•Supportive Care

Submission Guidelines:


• Abstracts will be accepted in English only.
• An international panel of reviewers will review all abstracts anonymously.
• There is no fee for submitting an abstract.
• Research work should be original and innovative.
• The top 3 abstracts will receive a $500.00 travel award.

Authoring Guidelines

• Individuals may submit up to three abstracts as the first author.
• Authors may submit an unlimited number of Trials in Progress abstracts.
• Individuals may participate as a coauthor on an unlimited number of abstracts.
• The presenting author of an accepted abstract must be registered to attend the International Symposium on Malignant Mesothelioma by February 15, 2017. Registration will be available at curemeso.org/symposium.

Abstract Format

• Abstracts must include a title page with all authors and their affiliation.
• Describe the objectives and results of the research in the abstract so that the Scientific Program Committee can evaluate the quality, originality, and completeness of the abstract. Abstracts will be judged solely on the basis of the data in the submitted abstract.
• Organize the abstract according to four sections, identified by the following headers: Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusions. (Note: Trials in Progress abstract submissions should only include Background and Methods sections.)
• Do not refer to study results or conclusions in the title of the abstract. The title should objectively describe the study.
• Do not exceed 2,000 characters (approximately 300 to 350 words) for the total of your abstract title, body, and table. The character count does not include spaces or author names or institutions.
• A maximum of 2 images may be included; each will count as 50 words.
• Abstracts must be saved as a pdf.
• Tables, images and graphs must be uploaded in JPG or TIFF format at 300 dpi and 100% size. Any higher resolution is acceptable.


• Abstracts can be submitted at abstracts@curemeso.org.
• Include a 50-character title in the subject line along with the first authors last name.
• Please proofread your submission prior to submitting.
• Please carefully review the affiliation of all your co-authors as this is how it will appear in the Scientific Program.
• Once submitted, you will no longer be able to make edits to the abstract. If you need to make changes prior to the submission deadline, please e-mail us at abstracts@curemeso.org.

Authors' Consent and Waiver of Claims

• By submitting an abstract all authors agree and certify that he or she has read all of the rules and agrees to be bound by them.
• Is responsible for submission of the abstract in accordance with the rules, and waives any and all claims against the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation and any reviewer arising out of or relating to the abstract submission and review process, including but not limited to peer review of abstracts.

Event Information:

The Poster Session will be part of the Meso Foundation's International Symposium on Malignant Mesothelioma on March 27-28, 2017. This event is hosted by the Meso Foundation in collaboration with the National Cancer Institute and will be held on the campus of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Registration is available at curemeso.org/symposium, and more event details will become available in the coming weeks.
