The Meso Foundation Board of Directors: Suellen Crano, PhD

Meet Suellen Crano, PhD, Director

Dr. Suellen Crano is a 16+ year peritoneal mesothelioma survivor. She retired from her position as Vice President for Strategic Planning and Institutional Effectiveness at Western University, a graduate university of medical sciences in Pomona, California, three years after diagnosis, but remains on the University’s Board of the College of Graduate Nursing. After earning her Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration/Student Personnel in 1984 from Michigan State University, Dr. Crano served in senior administrative roles at Texas A&M University, The University of Arizona, and the State of Michigan Department of Higher Management Systems. During graduate school she was an analyst at Wyeth Laboratories, Inc. In addition to serving on the board of the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation, Suellen is a founding member of the board of WiRED International, an international medical and health education organization serving low resource populations. She is happy to be serving on the board of the Meso Foundation because it is a distinct organization serving patients, clinicians, and researchers and connecting those three groups to enhance the science, treatment, and care of mesothelioma.
