Thank you very much for your dedication and support of Mesothelioma Awareness Day!

This year, our volunteers and supporters organized eight official events, counting over 1,000 attendees and approximately $65,000 raised for mesothelioma research. Many more gathered informally, and raised awareness by wearing their shirts and bracelets, by posting meso-related posts on their social media networks, by sharing literature and talking about it, by establishing workplace fund-drives, and by creating personalized license plates in their states.
On Monday morning, September 26, over 75 people joined us in New York at the Today Show, where curemeso.org received some 15 seconds of on-mic airtime (thank you Al Roker for mentioning curemeso.org!), and over 2 minutes of airtime showing orange t-shirts and curemeso.org signs.
In addition to Congress declaring Mesothelioma Awareness Day, 10 states have permanently declared Meso Awareness Day, and 34 localities (cities and counties) have recognized the important day. Advocates in four additional states are already garnering support for permanent state proclamations in 2012.
Proclamations new in 2011 include:Alexandria, VA, Culver City, CA, Fairfax County, VA, Kansas City, MO, Union County, NJ.
Finally, Meso Awareness Day and the Meso Foundation received quite a bit of press. Several Meso Foundation volunteers raised awareness through local television interviews and radio interviews and PSAs, some included informational blurbs in their workplace newsletters, and many also received print coverage in their local newspapers.
