Volunteer Network

The Foundation recognizes that the passion of those most directly affected by the disease, people with mesothelioma and their family and friends, may in the end prove the most powerful force in overcoming mesothelioma. Therefore, the Foundation has organized those affected by mesothelioma into a cohesive network of volunteers throughout the country. These volunteers take part, actively and directly, in the battle to eradicate mesothelioma. They work as individuals and/or as part of a group made up of people from the same geographic location, known as a chapter, to help advance the work of the Foundation.

The functions of the Volunteer Network include:
  • Providing friendship, emotional support and information to those affected by mesothelioma.
  • Fundraising for mesothelioma research.
  • Raising awareness of mesothelioma and helping the Foundation advocate in Washington, D.C. for federal funding of mesothelioma research.
  • Improving diagnosis and treatment of mesothelioma by helping local doctors to become more aware of the disease, and more aware of the Foundation as a resource for their mesothelioma patients.
