The meso medical science community continues to acknowledge the Foundation's research grant program as the preeminent independent source of funding for new research. Fifty-nine researchers from all around the world applied for grants in 2008. After our scientific review panel of 21 experts carefully reviewed and ranked them all, the Board of Directors voted to fund the top five projects. In addition, all ten of our 2007 grant recipients were renewed for their second year of grant funding. This is another $1 million of new research funding, and reflects our deep commitment to research as key to the cure. This brings the total of our funding for research programs from around the globe to almost $6 million.
