“After 12 years, I still do this event because I want to honor my dad’s memory and I know that there’s still a lot of work to be done to find a cure for mesothelioma,” said Erica when asked why this event is so important to her.

“The event is such a great display of a community coming together for a worthy cause, and for me and others who have lost someone, it shows that you can turn a tragedy into something that helps others.”

Although this event was conceived as a tribute to her father and others lost to mesothelioma, the event has become a great way to raise awareness of this cancer, and also to bring together the entire mesothelioma community, including those currently affected by this cancer as well as those who have never heard of the disease.

“Even though this event benefits the mesothelioma community, even those not affected by it personally can enjoy themselves — and know that they’re doing something good for a cause that desperately needs the support.”

For any questions, please contact Erica directly at [email protected] or 516-729-9986.
