Heather Von St James’ fifteenth annual Lung Leavin’ Day is virtually taking place Saturday, Feb. 6 to celebrate her 15 years of survivorship. Folks can join via Facebook Live and watch from the warmth and safety of their own home.

Historically, this Fundraise for Meso event occurs on or around Feb. 2, the anniversary of her extrapleural pneumonectomy (EPP) — the day her left lung was removed. Heather and her family use the day as a celebration and a fundraiser for the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation, specifically the Von St James Travel Grant Fund. In non-Covid times, the Von St Jameses host the event in their St. Paul, Minnesota backyard. Guests gather around their firepit, write their fears on plates, and then smash the plates into the fire.
This year, Heather is selling Lung Leavin’ Day t-shirts, hoodies, and plates. For those who purchase a plate, Heather will write their fears on the plate and break it for them. To purchase a t-shirt, hoodie, or plate, contact Heather at [email protected].
