Obtain a “Mesothelioma Awareness Day” proclamation in your state or locality

Since 2004, the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation and its community members have obtained “Mesothelioma Awareness Day” proclamations for September 26 from both their local and state-level governments as well as the United States Senate and the House of Representatives.

With Mesothelioma Awareness Day 2019 one month away, now’s the time to work on a proclamation in your state or locality. States with a permanent proclamation include Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Virginia and West Virginia. Localities where a proclamation has been received previously can be found on our website. Please note that you can still request a 2019 proclamation from these localities.

To get you started, we developed a how-to list with Bonnie Anderson, a mesothelioma warrior and advocate:

Tips from Bonnie:

  • Get to know the office staff and send a thank you note.
  • Send posters and letters to the offices of every representative of your state and locality.

Should you have any questions, please contact us at [email protected] or 703-879-3797.

The Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation is the only 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working to eradicate mesothelioma and end this national tragedy. Its programs include the funding of promising and peer-reviewed research, education, support and advocacy. The organization strives to bring together thought-leaders in the field to identify the most direct path to a cure.
