FOR THE FOUNDATION: Charlie Cole Classic

banner--cole-classicLynn Cole lost her husband, Charlie, to mesothelioma just a few years ago at the age of 51.  While grieving her loss, she felt the need to be proactive and do something to help others facing mesothelioma.  “Charlie’s love of golf and the mountains” inspired Lynn and her children Matt and Katie to host the first Charlie Cole Classic golf tournament in 2011 and “become advocates for the Foundation which helped us.”  Lynn is committed to continue helping those facing mesothelioma by raising funds to support medical research.

Launched in 2011, the Charlie Cole Classic is an annual golf outing nestled in the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina.   The tournament, held in the scenic mountain setting of the High Vista Country Club, will be Captain’s Choice format, with a Shotgun start and four player teams.  A Dinner will follow the award ceremonies.  “Family, friends and associates all gather to share fun, fellowship, and honor Charlie while raising awareness and money for the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation,” says organizer Lynn Cole.  Lynn says she could not have done it without all of the help of her children, Matt and Katie.

When asked about her expectations for the tournament, she answers “We hope to continue to grow this event, raise awareness and demonstrate to others that we can all make a difference in the fight against mesothelioma,” continues Cole “And anything but rain!”
